What is a retirement home?
To operate a retirement home, the government of Ontario would have performed due diligence on the owner (or the licensee) before issuing a license. This license should be on display at the facility - ask to see it. Retirement Home is a residential facility that could be typical residence or home, apartment, condo or hospital-like complex.
The operator of the home makes at least two care services available, directly or indirectly, to the residents. These are services designed to help residents complete activities of daily living like dressing, support with ambulation, taking their medicine etc.
Are Long Term Care (“LTC”) homes in Ontario different from Retirement Homes?
