Welcome Home Transitions (“We”, “Us” or “Our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your use of our website, www.welcomehometransitions.ca (the “Site”) is secure. This Privacy Policy is intended to explain what we do with the information we collect from the Site.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which we collect, use, maintain and disclose information collected from users (each, a “User”, “your” or “you”) of the Site.  This Privacy Policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by us through the Site (collectively the “Services”).


Personal identification information

We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our Site, registers an account in connection with the Site, subscribe to the newsletter, respond to a survey, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on through the Site. 

Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and other personal information.  Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site and related activities.  Users have the right to access personal information and request a correction to it if the User believes it is inaccurate. 

Non-personal identification information

We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site or use the Application.  Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the internet service providers utilized and other similar information.

When using the Site, we may also collect information about the type of device and operating system you use.  We may also track any location-based information from your mobile device while using the Site.

Cookies

Our Site may use “cookies” to enhance User experience. The User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. User may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly.

How we use collected information

We take reasonable steps to ensure the data we collect is reliable for its intended use, accurate, complete and up to date.

The information we collect may be used by us for the purposes for which it was collected, as provided in this Privacy Policy, or for any other purposes that are disclosed to you.  We may collect and use Users’ personal information to improve customer service, personalize user experience, improve our Site and to carry out other legitimate business purposes, as well as other lawful purposes about which we will notify you.

We may use feedback you provide to improve our products and services, run a promotion, survey or other feature, or to send periodic emails.  It may also be used to respond to inquiries, questions, and/or other requests.  Users may receive emails that include company news, updates, related product or service information, etc.  

Information that is collected may also be used to enforce the Terms, to protect the rights and safety of our users or to comply with legal requirements, including complying with court orders, valid discovery requests, valid subpoenas and other appropriate legal mechanisms.  

We reserve the right to transfer personal information in the event that we merge or are acquired by a third party. We may share your information with companies who are purchasing, acquiring or merging with our business.

If at any time the User would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email or User may contact us at info@welcomehometransitions.ca.

How we protect your information

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information data stored on our Site.  All sensitive data is stored on secure servers with restricted employee access.  All transactions follow the latest security measures and use the best available technologies. However, no transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee that information disclosed through the internet cannot be intercepted from third parties.

We retain personal information that we collect only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or to meet legal requirements.  We destroy personal information when it is no longer needed.

Sharing your personal information

We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others.  We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.  We may use third party service providers to help us operate our business or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys.  We may share your information with these third parties for legitimate business purposes provided that you have given us your permission.

We may disclose your personal information as required by law, as required by a court of competent jurisdiction, for any other purpose permitted by law, or to which you consent.

Data Protection Rights

Our servers and offices are located in Canada, so you some or all of the personal information we collect may be stored or processed in Canada.  While the data protection, privacy and other laws of Canada may differ to those in your country, we take steps to protect your privacy.  Information stored on our servers may be subject to access requests from governments, courts, or law enforcement in the relevant jurisdictions according to the laws in those jurisdictions. 

If you are located in the EU, or a jurisdiction with similar legislation, you may have the following rights:

  • To access, correct, update or request deletion of your personal information.  You may contact us directly about accessing, correcting, updating or deleting your personal information by email at info@welcomehometransitions.ca. Such requests will be considered in accordance with applicable laws;
  • If you are resident in the EEA, you can object to processing of your personal information, ask us to restrict processing of your personal information or request portability of your personal information by emailing us at info@welcomehometransitions.ca;
  • If we have collected your personal information with your consent, then you may withdraw such consent at any time;
  • You have the right to complain to a data protection authority about our collection and use of your personal information.  For further information, please contact your local data protection authority.

Retention of Data

We retain personal information where we have an ongoing legitimate business or legal need to do so.  Our retention periods will vary depending on the type of data involved.   When we no longer have an ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it to the extent possible by our servers.  If we cannot delete such information, we will securely store such information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.   

Third party websites

Users may find content on our Site that link to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites or services linked to or from our Services.  In addition, these sites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These sites and services may have their own privacy policies, terms of use and customer service policies.  Use of third party sites and services, including websites which have a link to our Site, is subject to that third party’s own terms and policies.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We have the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically and become aware of modifications.

Your acceptance of these terms

By using this Site, the Application or the Services, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and our User Agreement. If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use our Services. Your continued use of the Site or the Services following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy will be deemed your acceptance of those changes.
